How the West Was Won: DRB’s Dust Bowl Invitational

March 29, 2010

The women of Atomic Assault just got back from DRB’s Dust Bowl Tournament in Bakersfield. The ladies were matched up against some of the best the west has to offer. Teams present hailed from as far north as Portland, Oregon to as far south as Tucson, Arizona. The teams were veterans and it showed in the way they played.

Although our ladies came home with no wins, they did put up a heck of a fight. They gained a new perspective on the game and each other. The team showed excellent team work!
The girls are fighting bruises and soreness and are heading to practice to prepare for their first home bout. With a new outlook on flat track roller derby and the pride of winning at home, the girls are sure to knock a few heads at home!
Skate hard, hit hard, and whip it when possible!

Central California Area Derby

February 22, 2010

Central California Area Derby, C.C.A.D. is dedicated to promoting the renaissance of roller derby, as well as making a positive impact in the community by encouraging women to take part in the sport and by participating in events in order to raise money for our local charities. Our goal is to nurture and strengthen the talent of our teams and to continue to progress to the next level while maintaining honorable sportsmanship.

C.C.A.D. abides, in practice and our bouts, by the rules set forth and governed by WFTDA to help set and maintain a standard of rules to learn and understand – to further our goals to compete at a national level.

We will continue to spread the good word of derby by starting our junior league, which is a great recreational option for young women of Central California.
